Rules for Participation    ♦    Past Walks    ♦    Limbs for Life    ♦    About Scoot
Organized by local walking-blogger Scooter, the KC TourWalks give you the opportunity to get some great exercise and also see Kansas City in a way you have never seen it before! These group walks maintain a walking pace of about 3 miles per hour so should give you a nice workout without being too stressful on your body. These are neither runs nor competitions. These are unofficial, unsponsored, informal, group events organized by a local blogger who loves walking and loves Kansas City.
Schedule of Upcoming 2008 Walks
Sunday, May 18: Mid-Metro Walking Half-Marathon

At just over 13 miles, this pleasant but challenging walk will traverse several beautiful and interesting neighborhoods in two states and three counties. Those scared by the mileage should note that this walk is a little bit shorter than KC TourWalk 1. :) We will begin in North Kansas City, MO and walk to Prairie Village, KS. A picnic lunch will be provided at the end of the walk.

This walk will be webcast live at www.livewalking.com.

Saturday, August 9:
K C K C K

A 10 mile loop around down the downtowns of both Kansas Cities. We will visit the City Market, West Bottoms, Downtown KCK, Strawberry Hill, Argentine, the Crossroads, the Power & Light District, and the Central Business District.

Fall 2008: Mill Creek Streamway Walk

We will be walking the entire length of the Mill Creek Streamway Trail in western Johnson County, KS. Details to come.
The Longest Walk 2

KC TourWalk is proud to have helped with Longest Walk 2, a 30th-anniversary commemorative walk from San Francisco to Washington, DC to raise awareness of environmental and human rights issues. There are two groups currently underway on this walk, one walking a southern route and the other walking a northern route. The northern route walkers passed through the Kansas City area May 1 through May 3.

I helped plan the group's route across the metro area, getting them from Lawrence to Grain Valley. Members of the local community were invited and encouraged to come watch, give support, and even join them on the walk.

The organization needs donations to help with camping fees, food for the walkers, and fuel for their supply/support vehicles. as they continue on east. Donations to the North Route can be made through their web site at longestwalk.org.
